Add Metal
There are no rules when it comes to art! That means that anything goes, including the addition of some metalworking. Adhering some metal pieces, strips or other varying shapes to your painting can give it a modern, industrial feel. If that's what you're looking for, this might be the way to go! You can leave the metal as is and attach it to your painting in its natural state or you can paint them before adding them on.


Papier-Mâché
This kind of paper can also be an excellent way to give your painting some texture. Add this or a different kind of paper and paint it with pearlized, regular, glitter or gleam paint to add different dimensions to your piece. You may also choose to include the paper in its natural state. Use both natural and painted paper and various different kinds. Mix thicker and more thin varieties as well as solids and prints for added interest.

Fabric
Do you have a favorite textile in your home? Maybe it's the inspiration for your entire design scheme or just a piece of fabric that you like. Why not frame it? Maybe you have an interesting scarf with some meaning behind it or some beautiful lace you'd like to stretch over a canvas frame. You can choose to frame your fabric by itself or even combine it with the piece of art you've already been working on for a different look!
